Martin Might Not Be McClaren’s Only Target – West Ham Man Linked With QPR Switch

|

With strong links in the media last week suggesting Queens Park Rangers manager Steve McClaren would return for former Derby County striker Chris Martin, it’s fair to say the speculation mainly hinged around his former relationship with the goalscorer during his time at Pride Park.

A more left-field suggestion came out on the rumour mill on Sunday as Football London reported that we had joined fellow Championship clubs in expressing an interest in West Ham United forward Jordan Hugill.

David Moyes purchased the 26-year-old striker from Preston in the last January window but it’s fair to say he hasn’t taken to the London Stadium as he made only three substitute appearances in the entire second half of the season – a total of 22 minutes. He was signed for £8million.

His spell at Preston did put him on the radar though as he scored 30 times in 75 starting appearances, and 39 showings from the bench.

West Ham would be looking to recoup most of what they spent on him, so even though QPR are said to be favourites, our interest is on a loan deal only basis.

It’s said former club Preston are interested, as are Sheffield Wednesday.
