Managerial Misery In Football

Just two months into the season and a record number of league managers have left their respective clubs including our own John Gregory.

The first casualty was Carlisle’s Neil MacDonald when, after the opening day of the season and a 1-1 draw the Cumbrians showed Neil the door. The decision to sack MacDonald I suggest must have been more than just simply footballing reasons.

Next came Leicester’s Martin Allen, Gillingham’s Ronnie Jepson, Port Vale’s Martin Foyle, QPR’s John Gregory, Crystal Palace’s Peter Taylor and Millwall’s Willie Donachie.

Only a few days ago Peter Grant left Norwich City by mutual consent after failing to get anything from his last game in charge, ironically at Loftus Road.

However, the Premier League has seen only one sacking but they don’t come much bigger than Chelsea’s Jose Mourinho. A man who oodles in character, hated by many but loved by the majority.

It must be fair to say that none of the names mentioned above are bad managers, nevertheless who in their right mind would want to be part of today’s ‘Managerial Misery In Football’.
