Swansea City midfielder Jordi López hopes to play against his former club QPR this Saturday.

The former Real Madrid and Barcelona midfielder turned down a renewed offer in W12 in the summer to team-up with Paulo Sousa at Swansea City, while remaining thankful for the opportunity with QPR.

The 28-year-old scored a solitary goal for Rangers in his brief stint last season, and admitted that it was the first club he scoured the fixture list for.

‘It was the first game I looked for when the fixtures came out,” López told swanseacity.net

‘I marked it down on the calendar straight away. I’m really looking forward to it.

‘The three or four months I spent at QPR were really positive for me. They gave me the opportunity to play in English football and I will always be grateful to them for that.

‘I had the opportunity to stay there, but I felt it was a better opportunity for me to come to Swansea and work with Paulo again.

‘When Paulo spoke to me about the project he had at Swansea City, I liked what he had to say. It felt like the right move for me.”

Sousa returns from suspension this weekend after missing the drab draw with Doncaster Rovers during the week, and hopes to start against his former club and add the spark of creativity that has eluded Sousa’s side this season.
