FORMER Queens Park Rangers half-back Ivor Powell MBE has passed away aged 96.

The player made over 100 appearances for QPR between 1937-1948 in a period interrupted by the war.

The Welsh international retired from coaching at the age of 93, given the tag of the ‘World’s Oldest Football Coach’ having been accredited by the FA for 53 years.

He was given an MBE for his services to sport in 2007.

Ivor Powell passed away last night at the age of 96, may he rest in peace.
