Linfield striker Peter Thompson has been heavily linked with a move to Loftus Road in January after Rangers boss Ian Holloway admitted he was monitoring the forward.

The 21-year old striker has been a revelation in the Carnegie Irish Premier league this term hitting an unstoppable 33 goals in all competitions.

Holloway will watch the Northern Ireland youngster before making a decision on to move in for the Linfield star.

‘He’s come to our notice.’ said Holloway. ‘I will be seeing him in the next couple of days.’

After Saturday’s 2-0 defeat Ollie is keen to add some much needed strike power to the Rangers forward line after plenty of chances went begging.

‘On Saturday we had six goalscoring opportunities and didn’t take any of them,’ Holloway added.

‘We’ve got quite a heavy minus in the goal difference column.’

Rangers are also tracking Bournemouth hot-shot James Hayter whom Bristol City have had a £200,000 bid turned down this weekend.
