If The Jackett Fits At QPR Why Not – Although Sherwood & Ainsworth Are Said To Be In The Hunt

|

Following confirmation from Queens Park Rangers on Monday that manager Steve McClaren had been handed his P45 following our woeful run of form that has seen us just pick up one victory from the last 15 matches, new manager speculation was always going to quickly kick into gear.

The three firm media favourites so far according to Sky Sports are former assistant manager Kenny Jackett, Tim Sherwood and Garth Ainsworth.

Sky claim that Jackett is the favoured option but we appreciate we’ll have to be patient until the summer if we are to tempt him from League One side Portsmouth as they are in a promotion battle, and sit in third spot.

Another hot favourite is former Spurs and Aston Villa manager Tim Sherwood given his existing ties with Les Ferdinand and Chris Ramsey from Spurs’ youth set-up.

Wycombe Wanderers manager Gareth Ainsworth has ties to Loftus Road of his own, and our former player and caretaker gaffer has had his own success at Adams Park.

With finances still being the driver in the Boardroom, whoever gets the job will be expected to wheel and deal as opposed to spend, so you would think that rules out Sherwood given his relative experience.
