Hart Demands Improvement

Queens Park Rangers boss Paul Hart has urged his side to step up after a disappointing away defeat to Ipswich Town.

The R’s boss oversaw his first defeat as QPR boss at Portman Road with Jon Walters striking early before Jon Stead struck a second half brace to kill the game.

Hart told QPR.co.uk that with better luck his side could have been deservedly in front at half time, but the timing of the goals made it difficult.

‘It’s hard to swallow’ he said.

‘The goals that are going in at the moment are not great goals – we’re the architects of our own downfall,

‘As you all know, goals change games.’

Hart also felt that Rangers could and should have had a penalty when Jay Simpson was brought down in the first half, and the chances they had warranted at least a point.

He continued: ‘I felt the first half performance warranted a better return than we got. We were even unfortunate for the first goal, which took a deflection to loop over the keeper.

‘But after that I felt we should have had a penalty and (Adel) Taarabt should have scored from a great cross, he was in front of goal.

‘We thought if we could replicate the performance in the first half that we could get a draw. We felt that (we could have gone into half-time leading), I think we lost our legs a little bit.’

Rangers now have a rest from league action as they take on Sheffield United in the FA Cup on Saturday.

The R’s can reel out the same statistic with the worst FA Cup run in the league, their last win in the competition coming in 2001.
