Martin Rowlands strike against Wolverhampton Wanderers has been voted the Goal of 2008 by Vital QPR members.
The nominees included the R`s outstanding team goal against Barnsley culminating in a good strike by Rowan Vine; the audacious chip by Akos Buzsaky against Blackpool at Loftus Road; Damion Stewart`s League Cup giant-killing header against Aston Villa, and efforts from distance by Samuel Di Carmine and Martin Rowlands against midlands duo Birmingham City and Wolves respectively.
The members of the Vital QPR forum were torn between the contenders with many opting Di Carmine`s effort – however it`s the votes that count as Rowlands takes the title.

Fans For Rowlands Goal:
PaulaHoops: “It was great and what was even better was that me and Mumsy were watching it in Yates in Guildhall Walk and we were the only two QPR fans there (everyone else was Manure) and we jumped up and down and cheered and looked like a right pair of loons on loon tablets!”

Fans For Other Goals:
LeeCookFan: “Rowlands goal will win the poll because more people have actually seen it, being live on tv and everything. I`m still convinced that the Di Carmine`s goal was the best.”

Sandydl: “I’ve gone for Akos’ against Blackpool coz, whilst I cant disagree with anything anyone’s said on here about the other goals, for me this goal was special because it was unexpected, sublime, clever, and the type of goal we haven’t seen down LR way for many, many years.
“It had class written all over it and gave us a taste of the unique talent that is Akos Buzsaky – get better quickly!!!”
The Undecided

“I loved Buz’s goal against Blackpool. A deft, cheeky, confident finish.
“Stewart`s goal against Villa, not the best goal you will ever see but the fact it was against a team like Villa and won the game, marvellous! Made the trip all that more worthwhile and special.
“Then there is Di Carmine`s against Birmingham. Cracking strike, all seemed against us that night, but that goal lifted the whole crowd, helped create a great atmosphere that night, plus gave Ains a very special first victory!
“If there was ever a vote for best goal celebrations, hands down it would be Ainsworth`s dive from the dugout, sliding across the pitch when Di Carmine`s shot rustled into the net, loved it, absolutely loved it!”
The final results were as follows:
1. Martin Rowlands v Wolves – 39%
2. Akos Buzsaky v Blackpool – 25%
3. Samuel Di Carmine v Birmingham City – 21%
4. Rowan Vine v Barnsley – 10%
5. Damion Stewart v Aston Villa – 5%
