Former QPR veteran Paul Furlong looks set to extend his stay at Underhill.

Bees boss Ian Hendon told the Press Association that the 40-year-old captured from Southend United on loan transformed the side last season and hopes he pens a deal at Underhill.

‘I think he will,” he said.

“He lives locally anyway. The fact that he played our last 20 games of the season has made his mind up and living 15 minutes from the ground is another plus factor for him.

‘He looks after himself so well. We’d seen him a few times last season and knew what he was all about. We took him on loan for a month and it was a bit of a risk but we knew if it didn’t work out we could look elsewhere. The transformation he brought to the side was unreal.’

Furlong made 178 appearances for QPR over three spells scoring 57 goals. The former Chelsea man scored the goal that sent Rangers to the Milennium Stadium shrugging off QPR defender Fitz Hall in the process before bagging one of the three all important goals to fire the R`s to promotion at Hillsborough a year later.

Barnet are the tenth club of his career which spans nearly 19 years starting at Enfield before taking in Coventry City, Watford, Chelsea, Birmingham City, Sheffield United, Luton Town, Southend United and finally Barnet.
