QUEENS Park Rangers kept up their dismal away record as Everton eased into the top half.

Talisman Ross Barkley separated the two sides with a left-footed thunderbolt in the first half – albeit via a deflection off the back of Mauricio Isla.

The lead was doubled when a Kevin Mirallas free-kick deflected fortuitously off Eduardo Vargas, wrong-footing Rob Green on the stroke of half time.

The visitors could barely get out of first gear at times with wingers Matt Phillips and Junior Hoilett highly ineffective on their respective flanks, and they paid the price under ten minutes into the second period.

Aiden McGeady’s enterprising run and clipped cross found Steven Naismith, whose header was bundled over the line by Nedum Onuoha.

Substitutions breathed a bit of life into a tepid QPR, and Bobby Zamora was able to tap home after Tim Howard made a meal of Jordan Mutch’s weak effort – it was too little too late however as Rangers succumb to an eighth successive away defeat.
