DJ CAMPBELL has revealed his frustration at a lack of first team football this season.

Following his arrival in the summer, the former Blackpool front-man has been reduced to substitute appearances in the main.

This stems from persistent injuries and the arrival of Djibril Cissé and Bobby Zamora combined with the re-emergence of Heidar Helguson.

Upon Mark Hughes’ arrival to the club and his return from injury, Campbell revealed to London 24 that he hasn’t played the role he’d like to.

‘When I was injured I spoke to Mark Hughes and he said he wanted me back fit,’ he said.

‘Now I`m back, I`ve been on the bench a couple of times and I haven`t played the part I expected to or wanted to.

‘But I`m there if he needs me and I`m sure he knows that. I feel I have a part to play in the last two games, now I just have to see if I get it. It`s down to the gaffer.’

Campbell revealed his frustration with injuries and his struggle to get back into the first team fray at Loftus Road.

The striker is desperate to succeed in W12 however, still citing QPR as his club.

He continued: ‘It has been a very frustrating season with the injuries I`ve had, they`ve been more or less long-term injuries so it`s been tough. Last season I didn`t have one injury. It`s frustrating but I`ve got to get on with it.

‘It means a lot for me to pull on the shirt, and I would have liked it to have been a better season both for me personally and for the club. I had several options in the summer, but I chose QPR because I still feel it is my club.’

DJ has made 11 appearances for the club this season, with his only start coming against Bolton Wanderers on the opening day of the campaign.
