Shaun Derry has told Sky Sports that Queens Park Rangers need an extra presence up front if they are to retain their Premier League place.

The central midfielder, acting as one of the pundits for Sky Sports’ Super Sunday programme, has told the show that QPR need something extra leading the line.

He stated: ‘The two we’ve had up there this season, Heidar Helguson and Rob Hulse have lead the line fantastically for us.

‘But at this level, and I can only give an opinion from the outside, you’re looking at the teams we’ve watched today and it’s so important to have that figure up front that you look to and you know that every time they you cross that white line you’re going to have a hell of a chance of scoring a goal.’

The midfielder seems to encapsulate the consensus among QPR supporters that while the existing players, such as he, have done excellently to get Rangers into the league, further measures will need to be taken to keep them there.

Supplementing, rather than replacing should be the key word however as players such as Derry and Helguson have a role to play next season in some guise.
