SHAUN Derry is relishing this weekend’s clash against Wolverhampton Wanderers

The veteran midfielder is expecting a bruising encounter with both sides looking to give the maximum for their respective bosses.

The 33-year-old retained his place for the visit of Newcastle earlier this week and looks to once again team up with Alejandro Faurlín in the centre of the park at Molineux.

Speaking to QPR.co.uk the combative midfielder expects Wolves to provide a stern challenge to the new look QPR.

He said: ‘We’re expecting a difficult game – Wolves have had a good start to the season.

‘They’ve been in the Premier League for a number of years now.

‘Wolves have gradually established themselves as a top-flight side, just as Stoke City have, and they’re the types of teams that you’ve got to try and emulate.’

‘Mick McCarthy is very similar to Neil Warnock, in terms of expecting hard work and 100 per-cent commitment as a minimum from his players.

Warnock continued: ‘I’m sure that when you look at the pair of them on the touchline on Saturday, you’ll see that they are similar types of characters in the way that they approach the game.

‘It’s going to be a no-holds-barred fixture, but it’s one that we’re looking forward to.’

Wolves currently lie seventh with one defeat from their opening four games, but were defeated at home last weekend by Tottenham Hotspur (2-0).

Injury problems may well have weakened their line-up but nevertheless a strong squad will test the Premier League credentials of the new-look QPR.
