Birmingham Clash Sees Significant Improvement For One QPR Man But Another Narrowly Steals The Show

|

Queens Park Rangers’ mild improvement as the weeks of the 2018/19 Championship season tick by continued with a point from this weekend’s clash with Birmingham City at St Andrews Stadium.

The game was goalless but we could again take positives from the point gained and the clean sheet that goalkeeper Joe Lumley gained in the match.

Whoscored gave Joel Lynch the highest rating in our side with a score of 7.88 under their algorithm’s and he narrowly lost out to Blues defender Michael Morrison as their ‘star man’ as he picked up 7.99.

Lynch’s defensive efforts on the day certainly deserved praise though, but I think summer signing Toni Leistner probably deserves greater plaudits as he really seems to be finding his feet at the club now after some disappointing showings as he adjusts to the level of the Championship. The gave him 7.80 for his efforts on the day and he seems, to me at least, to now be on an upward curve in his showings which shows he’s settling in and he deserves credit for making such a quick adjustment really.

He’s starting to become the player we thought we’d signed from the Bundesliga and long may that continue as that kind of performance is going to be massive for us this year.

But Lynch can certainly be pleased with his own showing, as can Jake Bidwell, Mass Luongo and Tomer Hemed who all polled above 7 to complete the top five players from the game on a statistics front.
