Barry Bannan has vowed his Aston Villa team-mates will bounce back from the home defeat against Bolton Wanderers

The Villains crashed out of the Carling Cup courtesy of second half strikers from Chris Eagles and Gael Kakuta.

Boss Alex McLeish held an hour long inquest with senior players following the home defeat to pick the bones of a disappointing cup exit.

Speaking to AVFC.co.uk, the young Scotsman believes that lessons such as these should be taken into Sunday’s Sky televised clash.

‘We’re out of the cup now and it’s vital we now look forward and aim to bounce back, starting on Sunday against QPR,’ he said.

‘I didn’t think my own performance was anywhere near good enough on the night.
‘I am going to work really hard in training and hopefully I’ll get the chance again on Sunday.

‘We, as a group, have the character and ability to bounce back.

‘You look around the changing room and there’s a great bunch of players in there who are looking to shine now.’

The Scottish international has made six appearances this term for McLeish’s Villa.
