Angelo Balanta stepped up his pre-season preparations with a sterling display for Milton Keynes Dons.

The young Colombian featured for over an hour as the Dons romped to victory over Kettering Town – with an integral role being played by the R’s loanee.

Denied only moments earlier, Balanta latched onto a ball from ex-Manchester United wide-man Luke Chadwick before coolly dispatching the opener.

Poppies player/coach Paul Furlong had a hand in Kettering’s equaliser with a famed flick-on, but Balanta’s prowess shone as he played a large hand in the build up for Sam Baldock to score.

Never far from the action, the young striker robbed his opposing defender of the ball before laying in Jermaine Easter who spurned a useful opportunity.

Withdrawn on 69 minutes, Balanta watched on as Stephen Gleeson and Jermaine Easter rounded off matters at Rockingham Road.

Encouraging early signs for Balanta – a player that thrived in pre-season for QPR last time out, here’s to hoping he can remain injury free and take this form into pre-season.
