The QPR icon has joined former boss Gary Waddock’s Wycombe Wanderers on emergency loan for the next one month. The winger, has just returned from an injury and made a substitute appearance against Preston earlier this season but, unfortunately, is no longer able to compete for a place in the QPR first team.

Approaching the end of his playing career, there was not much left to gain for the winger by playing for the reserves. The move will allow the longest serving player of our current squad to enjoy some first team football.

Ainsworth is a fans favourite at Loftus Road, right from scoring on his first game for the Superhoops. If the last few minutes of the Preston game are anything to go by, he will always be loved and is always welcome back to Loftus Road.

VitalQPR wish Gareth the best at helping Wycombe avoid relegation this season.

  • Sad news – he and Rowley are the last of the old guard, the backbone of QPR. Not necessarily first-team, but just for the club in general.
