BOBBY Zamora will be out for three months after undergoing an operation on a hip injury

The forward who sustained the injury in training is looking at January as his best aim to make a combeback from the injury that has dogged him in recent weeks.

It leaves Djibril Cissé and Jamie Mackie as the only recognised forwards with Adel Taarabt and Junior Hoilett nominated in recent times to play off a lone-frontman.

It marks a disappointing start to the campaign for Zamora who despite scoring four goals in eight games in all competitions, has come in for some criticism from sections of supporters.

He joins strike partner Andy Johnson on the sidelines long-term while DJ Campbell and Rob Hulse – not named in the 25-man squad – remain on loan at Ipswich Town and Charlton Athletic respectively.
