Key Players |
Lee Carsley: Although in the twilight of his career, thirty-six-year -old Lee Carsley is still regarded as an important player at Coventry City. Carsley plays a similar role to that of Shaun Derry, protecting the back-four by reading the game and mopping up any loose ends. His experience has added some much needed steel to Coventry`s team. Carsley began his career at Derby County before moving to Blackburn Rovers in 1999 for £3.4 million. Carsley then moved to Coventry City in 2000 for £2.5 million, although, like his time at Blackburn, his stay was brief. The combative midfielder moved to Everton for £1.9 million and spent 6 seasons at Goodison Park. After refusing to sign a contract extension with Everton, Carsley joined Birmingham City in 2008 and helped guide the Blues to promotion in his first season with the club. Carsley joined Coventry in the summer of 2010.
