Vital QPR assesses tomorrow’s opponents, Brentford.

THE LATEST

Brentford are proving themselves to be a more than adequate Championship outfit on the cusp of something special – while it won’t happen this season, Dean Smith has built the foundations of a side that could well challenge the higher echelons of the division next term.

Even the loss of Scott Hogan for a hefty price-tag was seen as a minor blip in the road with Lasse Vibe more than stepping into his shoes – 13 goals since the turn of the year for the forward has helped propel the Bees to loftier climbs in the Championship.

Four wins from the last six games and only a single defeat in that time has seen Dean Smith’s side climb to 11th place – most certainly a respectable effort, budgets and sales all considered. Jake Bidwell’s transfer to QPR has hardly had the impact that Rangers would have liked or expected without really making a dent in the Bees progression.

There’s plenty to be envious about over in Middlesex right now but a victory for Rangers at Griffin Park would go some way to repairing some open wounds from a damning defeat earlier in the campaign. Chance would be a fine thing with form most definitely not on Rangers’ side.
