“We Just Didn’t Have That Quality” – McClaren On Disappointing QPR Draw

|

Queens Park Rangers continued their poor form in 2018/19 as we failed to build on the Leeds United victory, falling to defeat to Brentford. Today’s Championship clash with Stoke City was an opportunity to get back to winning ways.

Welcoming Nathan Jones’ side to Loftus Road for the game, it certainly wasn’t a classic but QPR pretty much dominated the affair and created 17 chances compared to their seven. Stoke also failed to register an effort on target across the game, largely helped by the fact they went down to ten men eight minutes into the first half.

With only four of our efforts on target though, we couldn’t take advantage of our extra number and as we went down to ten men ourselves late on in the second half, we have to settle for the point and it really should’ve been more than that.

Speaking to the BBC following the match, manager Steve McClaren said of the game.

“Obviously we’re frustrated. That’s the overall feeling in the dressing room, the dugout and also among the fans. But I can’t fault the players. We tried as much as possible to win the game and the attitude was there to win it. We finished the game with two wingers, two strikers, Luke Freeman in midfield – so we went for it. We just didn’t have that quality.”
