Warnock’s Busy Summer

The QPR players have only just steadied themselves from the ups and downs of the recent season, but will already be looking over their shoulders as Neil Warnock has been quick to announce his intent on rebuilding a Rangers squad that is in much need of a shake up.

Having arrived in early March, Warnock has had to make do with the signings of previous managers, but has already outlined his transfer scheme for the summer and claims he has identified his transfer targets.

With rumours of a reported £10 million war chest being handed to Warnock, the gaffer has been quick to quash such rumours.

‘It’s not a case of the Board telling me: ‘You have this amount of money to spend.’ That’s not how it is going to work. I am going to be sensible – but I also plan to be constructive,’ he said in an exclusive interview with QPR.co.uk.

“Every time a target becomes available who I believe we can get, I will speak with Ishan and Amit. Obviously financial aspects will come into it. They are both very supportive. As long as I am not unrealistic, I believe I can get the people in that we need to take us where we want to go.”

Warnock has also called on the Rs fans to retain belief in his transfer policies, and the players he is looking to bring in. ‘The fans have got to trust me in the transfer window. We need a few players. I don’t intend to have too many loan players.

I believe a player needs to have a relationship with the Club. I want it to hurt people when we don’t do well.”

The Rs manager has also been astute in echoing the board`s recent ethos of building a friendly, proficient relationship with the fans and has acknowledged the part the Rangers faithful have to play in the Championship next season.

‘It’s important that the players realise how vital the fans are,’ he said.

‘Sometimes supporters are forgotten. Wherever you are – home or away – the players should always show their appreciation to the fans at the final whistle. Sometimes players are worried about going over if it’s been a bad result, or performance. That’s rubbish for me. You should always go over – win, lose or draw.’

With rumours already flying out of Loftus Road of potential transfer targets, including the likes of Clint Hill, Julian Speroni and Rob Kozluk, the summer sure looks to be another interesting chapter in Queens Park Rangers ever interesting climb to the top.
