Warnock today spoke to the waiting media after our confident 2-0 win against Scunthorpe United: “I thought that the attitude was super. This was my biggest fear today – Scunthorpe at home – a game that everyone expected you to win. You can be a little bit complacent but we weren`t even though I thought Scunthorpe battled hard.

“They had a couple of good chances. Murphy in their goal – I give him 10 out of 10 today – how he saved 5 or 6 of the efforts that we had – incredible really. So another clean sheet. We were delighted really,” he told Sky Sports News

“Obviously I don`t get carried away. We`ve had 3 super wins and we`ve played very well today. I was very, very pleased. I asked them to be professional today. We were very thorough. Two good goals,” he noted.

On Taarabt as captain, which some people might think interesting, Warnock told BBC Radio: “Well, that`s what you do when you get older. You lose your marbles a bit. You do silly things! He responded in the right way. He was unplayable sometimes.

“Everybody fits in. He`s got attributes that we haven`t got anywhere else. Likewise, some of my other players, like Clint Hill and Derry, Bradley Orr, they`ve got attributes. That`s what it`s all about – making a team. It`s a team performance.”

On whether Warnock feels he`s got the squad he wants now: “No! I think we`re miles away! It`s great to have 9 points. At the moment, I told the Directors last week, I think we`re 6-10th position. So let`s not get carried away.

“We desperately need 2 strikers – 2 forwards. We thought we had them last week and obviously we lost out which was disappointing. Jon Walters had been my number one target for now for a long time. But we`ve moved on and we have to look to get someone else in.”

Please note – Warnock spoke about THEM – I heard it clearly coming home from the game!

He went on to compare our front line with Cardiff`s – Bellamy, Bothroyd and Chopra – and felt “we`re not at that level yet. We have to look to improve. But, in all fairness, the front 3 are doing really well at the moment. But we are very thin on the ground regarding strikers.

“If not by Derby next week, I want at least another couple of forwards in by the Middlesbrough home game. We`ve got to get one or two more quality players in, but the Directors are doing their best.”

Success is built on a solid defence and it was a real pleasure to see another clean sheet today: “Paddy Kenny made a really great save with 20 minutes to go. And that kept us a clean sheet. ‘Tis lovely. Clean sheets really bring confidence and give you that little bit more will to enjoy yourself a bit more, not restrict you. If you`re conceding goals, you panic about everything.

“Today Matt Connolly and Ali Faurlin – 2 players who didn`t get the limelight today – but, for me as a manager they were spot on in their contributions.”

And Nigel Adkins told Sky Sports News afterwards: “Great credit to our players coz they kept playing football against an exception side who I expect to be in the top 2 come the end of the season and we didn`t just crumble. We showed great character and great willingness to try and pass the football about.”
