Warburton Believes This Man Has His Back At QPR – Let’s Hope He’s Right

|

With the sacking of former manager Steve McClaren, Queens Park Rangers fans had to remain patient to learn who would lead us into the Championship campaign of 2019/20 and we recently learned that it would be Mark Warburton.

With experience at Brentford, Rangers and Nottingham Forest, Warburton’s path in the game has also seen him work in the Sporting/Director of Football role (Brentford) himself so he knows all about the relationship that is required at the club with Les Ferdinand and in a recent interview with the Official Site he feels the two of them will have a good and productive working relationship.

“I can’t emphasise enough how important it is for the club. That relationship with the Director of Football is hugely significant, making sure it is transparent and honest. The manager has to feel – Uwe for example – he had to feel that I was there for him. He had to know that I’d always have his back whenever I went to speak to the board and I’m sure Les will be the same for me. Les knows I’ll be doing everything I can for the good of the team and vice versa and I’m sure in the weeks and months ahead the relationship will grow accordingly.”

With fans seeing the potential with this group of players as things clicked earlier in the season before our form significantly fell off the cliff as injuries hit, Warburton is right in his words that they need to work together as if he can make it click again, allied to the right recruitment to cover injuries and suspensions, next year might not be great, but it can be a damn sight better than 2018/19 ultimately was.
