Gary Waddock spoke to the official QPR website after Saturday’s defeat to Crewe and was not happy with what he saw.

‘After Wednesday’s defeat I wanted a reaction and never got it during the first period. I got one in the second half, but we didn’t take our chances and it proved costly.

‘We had enough crosses, we had enough shots, we had enough possession to win two games, let alone one game.

‘I keep saying we need to be more clinical and today proved that. Crewe probably had three clear cut chances and scored twice and that’s the difference.

‘We had to wait until injury time to score, which is desperately disappointing.”Kenny Lunt opened the scoring nine minutes before the break, before David Vaughan put the icing on the cake on 72 minutes.

‘I thought Mauro was outstanding and deservedly man-of-the-match.

‘I thought Cooky did very well too, but we’ve been beaten by Crewe, at home, and that just isn’t good enough for this football club.’

In the post match press conference Waddock also spoke about this own situation at the clun saying:

‘I’m the caretaker manager and nothing has changed whatsoever.

‘There’s been reports, speculation and rumours in the press about the situation but I remain caretaker manager until I’m told anything different.

That’s a question that you’ve had to ask the chairman and the board, but I’ve already stated that I’d like the job, but until Ian Holloway’s position has been resolved then the club can’t move on.

‘I gave the players an opportunity to put things right but they didn’t take it and there will be changes for the next game at Burnley.’

  • He promised changes after the midweek defeat to Stoke, there was 1 change and that was inforced (Sammy Youssouf’s injury). Gallen is back next week so that’s one change… who else?

  • I say play the youngsters. Give Scott Donnelly a start if he’s fit, Stefan Bailey, Shabazz… I also think we look better defensively when Santos is playing alonside *Shittu- not Evatt. Kus for Bignot?

  • Nope, Ollie built a good platform. His idea of improving on last season’s performance was going to plan until Paladini stopped him- now look where we are. That’s not a dig at Gary Waddock but I always stood with Ollie when it came to his future. He got us here he should be allowed to try and complete his job.
