ROWAN Vine will have the chance to impress at Southend United, joining the League Two promotion chasers on trial.

The striker that has been an afterthought at Loftus Road since fracturing his leg in 2008, and failed to recapture some sparkling early form alongside Patrick Agyemang.

He has been out on loan to Hull City, Brentford, Milton Keynes Dons and Exeter City while also having a trial in the summer with Championship side Doncaster Rovers.

The switch comes as little surprise with the forward last playing for the club in April 2010. He will be hoping to impress Paul Sturrock in a bid to turn his luck and find regular first team football.
