Villa & Cardiff Looking At QPR Defender – Erm, Probably Not Really

|

It’s been claimed this week that both Aston Villa and Cardiff City are keeping tabs on Queens Park Rangers centre-half Toni Leistner.

The claim seems to come from a purely speculative report that merely suggests an Aston Villa source has confirmed the Midlands side are looking at their defence over the summer.

You don’t need to be an avid Villa fan to realise their two current fit centre-halves are both on loan, another loanee is out injured, Tommy Elphick has just been injured and he’s out of contract in the summer – so that leaves the injured James Chester as their potential remaining senior at the moment.

Not exactly investigative journalism at its best in my mind.

Especially factoring in the claim of a £5million fee and the reference to Cardiff is as vague as claims that ‘other clubs’ are believed to want to strengthen their own defence next summer and our German skipper could also be a target for them.

Hey ho, I thought silly season was over.
