In the aftermath of Queens Park Rangers` defeat to Bristol City, loan striker Andrius Velicka appears to have suffered a lengthy injury.

The Lithuanian forward only penned a deal with the Robins on Friday but an innocuous aerial challenge with Fitz Hall send the striker tumbling to the floor in agony.

It has since emerged that the Glasgow Rangers man has suffered suspected knee ligament damage, something which Gary Johnson sympathised with after the final whistle.

He said: ‘While we are delighted with the win and Nicky’s fantastic late strike, our thoughts are with Andrius.

‘It’s a bad break for us but even worse for the lad himself.

‘There was no contact involved when he went down, which is always a worry, and it looks pretty serious.”

The incident came a mere 11 minutes into his City debut after coming from the bench to replace full back Jamie McAllister, and he in turn was replaced by midfielder Lee Johnson.

He appeared to lank awkwardly on his left leg which was strapped up after being seen to by many medical staff who were on hand to give their advice.

This will undoubtedly come as a blow to City, Johnson and most of all Velicka in an incident that has brought his immediate future at Ashton Gate to an abrupt halt.
