I was in the Club shop yesterday lunchtime, along with our Club captain Martin Rowlands and his midfield side-kick, Gavin Mahon. Two players of great experience and heart who have been missing from our first team for the bulk of this season – as we are all only too aware!

Whilst both men may have looked sauve and sophisticated in their dark blue suits, I, for one, would far have preferred to have seen them both kitted out in the blue n white hoops!

But – that will not be happening any time soon for either man.

Gavin Mahon revealed to me that, whilst he was now over his injury, there were not enough games left this season for him to make his comeback. He did, however, expect to be in training in pre-season and to (hopefully) feature once more for us next season.

Martin Rowlands, however, was not so optimistic, I’m afraid! He believes he’ll be back for us next season – but when I asked him if he’d be involved in pre-season he glumly replied that he didn’t think so!

So – there you have it – from the horses’ mouths, as it were.

I am sure we all wish both Mahon and Rowlands well on their roads back to recovery. But I have to wonder whether either man will ever really be the same again – particularly Martin Rowlands who has two shot knees now!

But that’s MY thoughts …We want to know YOUR thoughts!
