Queens Park Rangers defeated Northampton Town to keep pace with leaders Colchester United.

The R’s currently lie second in the league, two points behind the U’s but with a game in hand, and this latest victory will do their title aspirations little harm.

A brace from Javonne Molloy, one of which came from the penalty spot, and a strike from Michael Doughty was enough to see QPR through.

Northampton Head of Youth, Geoff Harrop hailed QPR as ‘the best team in the league’ in his assessment of the fixture, with their solitary goal coming from Malachi Farquharson.

Rangers now travel to mid-table Wycombe Wanderers, a side that beat QPR in the Youth Alliance Cup earlier in the month.
