Two Defensive Free Agents But Would One Be Too Controversial For QPR Fans

|

With the summers’ transfer window slamming shut at the end of August, well the permanent transfer window shut early on in the month and the ridiculous decision to create two deadline days was shown up when permanent deals were still being concluded under the guise of loan to buy arrangements.

In any event, a number of notable players are free agents and are still capable of completing moves should clubs wish, and although Queens Park Rangers certainly made progress with the captures of Tomer Hemed, Nahki Wells and Geoff Cameron as notable additions at the death of the window.

The squad could undoubtedly do with one or two more to really kick-start our season and bolster our chances of a semi-reasonable year and one man is popular on the rumour mill and that’s Premier League winner Robert Huth, even at 34-years-old.

With Toni Leistner seeing a small kick up in form as he settles in with greater experience in the camp taking the weight off his shoulders, Huth would be a good additional option in the backline even if last season’s injury means he can’t play 40+ games and it would free up Cameron to move further forward.

There is another possible option.

26-year-old Steven Caulker didn’t end his spell at the club in great fashion but with the subsequent reveals maybe fans have developed some sympathy for the issues he was facing at the time.

With a number of loan spells that didn’t work out, he left the club and didn’t get much game time at all, but in the second half of last season he got himself back on track more and took in regular games again for Dundee north of the border but he fund he finds himself as a free agent once more – so would fans welcome him back for a second bit of the cherry and would he want to come back to maybe square his time with us in more positive fashion?
