Former Queens Park Rangers midfielder Richard Langley heads to Mansfield in search of a permanent deal.

The Stags currently sit fourth in the Blue Square Premier Division, fully ten points behind run-away leaders Oxford United.

Langley is expected to feature in a practice match today with boss David Holdsworth handing trials to several players.

The former QPR man had two spells at Loftus Road after leaving for Cardiff City in 2003 in a deal which paved the way for Gareth Ainsworth to join the R’s.

After a brief spell at Luton Town, Langley penned a short-term deal with Bristol Rovers. He didn’t feature for the Gas and had trials with Hereford United, while training with Ian Holloway at Blackpool this summer.

A promising player that lost his way, Langley can look to a knee-ligament injury early in his career that scuppered his progress, as both he and Clarke Carlisle suffered similar injuries in the same game against Fulham.
