Queens Park Rangers manager Jim Magilton assesses the departures of Lee Camp and Damien Delaney indicating that he will only strengthen with the right players.

QPR have managed to accrue funds for their transfer kitty with the long awaited departures of Lee Camp and Damien Delaney coming to fruition yesterday.

Stopper Camp made the long-awaited move to Nottingham Forest for whom he had a spell on loan last season, while Damien Delaney completes the dream of being able to work alongside idol Roy Keane at Ipswich.

Magilton believes that while replacements need to be recruited for the departing players, they will not be rushed into a decision to bring players in.

‘We’re progressing nicely on the transfer front, Magilton told QPR.co.uk

‘We’ve got a few irons in the fire, but I’m not just going to bring players in for the sake of it.

‘Of course there are areas of the squad that need strengthening, but I said from the first day I arrived here that I would give every player a chance to impress me and that hasn’t changed one bit.

‘Rest assured though, we’re working extremely hard behind-the-scenes to bring the right footballers in to this Club.’

In the build up to a new Championship campaign the QPR players have made an impression on Magilton and assistant John Gorman with their desire and will-to-win ethic and the boss was impressed with the quality of the first few sessions.

Jim also revealed that he never had the opportunity to work with either player with a decision made by them to leave the club before his appointment.

‘I think both players decided their futures lied away from QPR long before I arrived here.

‘I didn’t have the chance to work with either player, but they’ve been good servants to the club and I wish them all the best for the future.’
