Transfer Gossip Persists

Queens Park Rangers have once again been strongly linked with several players in the build up to the January window.

Bobby Zamora seems to be a persistent rumour as levels of intrigue continue to rise over his ommission from the Fulham squad that faced Swansea City last weekend.

The England international – formerly of Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United has reportedly had the latest in a set of bust-ups with Fulham boss Martin Jol and could be on his way to W12.

The Daily Mail – who are carrying the story today – believe that while his current wage demand of £45,000 per week is achievable, the £10m asking price is unrealistic.

This comes as Roman Pavlyuchenko continues to court speculation about his imminent move away from Spurs – with the club allegedly ‘offering’ the Russian international to QPR.

His agent stated: ‘That is true that Tottenham have turned to QPR.

‘I know about it. The club has a right to do so as they have a contract with Roman.

‘Before talking about it – if Roman wants to be a QPR player or not – we have to consider every detail. Roman hasn`t thought about it yet.’

With two forwards on the horizon and rumours of Andrew Johnson still persistent it isn’t difficult to note that Neil Warnock is looking to bolster his January fire-power.

Johnson is also rumoured to be courting the interest of Sunderland however, and his resolve of staying local will be tested by new Black Cats boss Martin O’Neill.

Meanwhile the Daily Express is carrying the story that Brazilian stopper Heurelho Gomes is also on Rangers’ radar.

While this carries slightly less credence, it is certainly correct to assume that the R’s boss is on the look out for a ‘keeper in the short-term after two injuries exposed some frailties.

The injuries to Paddy Kenny and Brian Murphy has seen 37-year-old Radek Cerny wrapped up in cotton wool and wheeled out on matchdays while Elvijs Putnins – technically released by the club – takes up residence on the bench.

To that end Peterborough ‘keeper Joe Lewis has been training with Rangers with a potential January move on the cards also.

Warnock is certainly keeping himself busy prior to the opening of the window, with no wasted motion it seems in finding players to slot into an already competitive squad.
