Queens Park Rangers continued their positive start to pre-season with goals from familiar faces

This would prove to be the R’s toughest pre-season fixture to date, making light of Tavistock and Bodmin earlier this week.

Inside the opening ten minutes there was a confidence boosting goal for Heidar Helguson, which would have pleased him despite the glut of chances he conspired to miss later in the half.

His assist was crafted by Leon Clarke down the left, but sadly he was forced off injured moments later.

Chris Zebrowski helped the Gulls level matters when his cross found Chris Robertson and he put pay to Rangers clean sheet record thus far in pre-season.

Rangers had that bit of extra spark from the bench as Hogan Ephraim – replacing the injured Clarke, and Josh Parker showed Torquat a fresh set of heels.

The sharpness of Parker was evident as he latched onto a flick-on before burying a drive high into the corner to continue his fine scoring run.

Torquay had a goal ruled out before Ephraim continued his fine pre-season form with jinking run culminating in a fine finish.

The first team now head to Italy while some of the fringe players stay behind to continue their pre-season tour under the guidance of Ronnie Jepson.
