“Too big a jump”: Sky Sports reporter delivers Eberechi Eze update amid QPR exit talk

Tottenham are interested in signing Queens Park Rangers youngster Eberechi Eze, however they may have doubts about his ability to handle the step up to their level.

That’s according to Sky Sports reporter Lyall Thomas, who, after admitting Spurs are monitoring the player, suggested a move isn’t as set in stone as some may have thought as he assessed the potential targets for Jose Mourinho ahead of what could be a busy window.

Eze is good young talent and Spurs like him but it might be too big a jump for him from QPR.”

It has been claimed over the past month that the north Londoners are the favourites to land the 21-year-old when the transfer window opens, with reports stating that the R’s could demand £20m for the attacking midfielder. That figure was said to have put off other interested sides, such as Sheffield United and Crystal Palace, but it’s a price that Spurs are apparently willing to pay.

Such interest in Eze is no surprise, as the England U21 international has established himself as one of the most productive players in the Championship this season, contributing with 12 goals and eight assists, in what is just his second full campaign at this level.

As well as that, his all-round game has made Mark Warburton’s side a devastating attacking outfit, with only Brentford and West Brom scoring more goals than the R’s in the league. That has left the Hoops just six points away from the play-off places with nine games left to play, so they still have an outside chance of returning to the Premier League, which would undoubtedly increase their chances of keeping hold of Eze beyond this summer.
