With a four-game losing streak for Queens Park Rangers as we opened up the 2018/19 Championship campaign under manager Steve McClaren, the tide turned against Wigan Athletic at the weekend as we picked up our first three points of the season and registered our opening win.

New loan signings Tomer Hemed and Nahki Wells had an immediate impact on the side, but 23-year-old goalkeeper Joe Lumley was our stand out man with his individual showing between the sticks as he picked up the clean sheet.

Receiving a match rating of 7.86 from Whoscored, Lumley topped the pile of our better performers on the day with Joel Lynch (7.65), Toni Leistner (7.42), Wells (7.32) and Hemed (7.31) completing the top five, but special mentions should be given to Jake Bidwell (7.12) and Luke Freeman (7.05) as they also received plus 7 ratings from the game.

Still plenty of work to be done but the positives should be taken and confidence should get a small lift from that showing, and moving a few places up the Championship table gives life an improved perspective, but we simply have to kick on from here now.
