The Woodwork Saved Reading, But QPR Man Won MotM

|

Queens Park Rangers closed out the year with a scoreless draw against Reading last Saturday as we welcomed them to Loftus Road for our latest Championship clash.

Manager Steve McClaren was going in search of a fourth straight win in the second tier as we keep our unexpected Play-Off hopes alive in 2018/19, but the point did extend our unbeaten run obviously and it could’ve been more given the chances we fashioned on the day as centre-half Toni Leistner hit the woodwork twice.

We go into 2019 just four points from sixth place and given how we started the campaign, few will argue with that as so few expected it.

With a strong performance from Leistner at both ends of the pitch, statistics website Whoscored gave him their star man rating and a score of 8.16.

The top five best performers on the day were completed by goalkeeper Joe Lumley (7.50), Joel Lynch (7.44), Jake Bidwell (7.37) and Luke Freeman (7.22).

Josh Scowen and Ebere Eze also received seven-plus scores – it’s just a shame we couldn’t get that slice of luck to take the three points.
