The Stat Attack – Reading

Lenny367 takes a look at the stats that matter as playoff chasing QPR face promotion contenders Reading.

Reading have made the relatively short trip to Shepherds Bush 36 times since the first meeting in the old 3rd Division on the 11 September 1920, which ended in a 2-0 victory for the R`s.

The R`s have the upper hand in home games against the Royals winning 18, drawing 9 and losing 9. The most common result is a 2-0 home win which the R`s have achieved on 8 occasions.

We have failed to score against Reading on 8 occasions and kept a clean sheet on 17 occasions.

The worst result has to be the 3-6 defeat back in 1961 which saw Reading gain some revenge for our best victory against them, 5-2 the year before.

We are on a run of 5 games unbeaten at home while Reading have a mixture of 2 wins, 2 draws, and 2 losses in their last 6 trips away from home.

In games at Loftus road this season against sides currently in the top 6 the R`s have fared well, beating Wolves, Birmingham and Cardiff by the only goal and beating Preston 3-2.

Reading have an equally impressive record on their travels to teams in the top 6, winning at Wolves, Birmingham, Sheffield United and drawing at Cardiff. A 3-2 defeat at Preston was the only set back.

The second 15 minutes of the first half and last 15 minutes of the second half remain our favourite time to score, although the stats say there is no particular time we are vulnerable to letting goals in.

For Reading they are at their scoring best in the first and last half hour of the match, but would appear to be most vulnerable to conceding in the last 30 minutes.

Our attack has hit the net 21 times at home this season, exactly the same amount of times that our opponents have done on their travels. However, our defence edges it in only conceding 12 times at home while Readings have conceded 18

Saturday`s game has the potential to be one of the best to watch at Loftus Road this season. History would favour a 2-0 home win, but I feel an entertaining game will see the R`s come from behind with a late goal to share the points.

Lenny`s Prediction: 1-1 Draw
