The Stat Attack – Doncaster Rovers

Rangers have only made the trek from West London to South Yorkshire for a league match on 4 occasions in their history.

The first trip was made on the 14 April 1951 to contest what was then a second division game and ended with a 2-0 victory. The tables were turned the following year when the Rovers sent the R`s back to London on the wrong end of a 4-0 score line. Our next visit in 1958 the Rangers fared slightly better but still went down 2-0, but scraped a 1-1 draw in 1967. So our very short history against Doncaster reads. Won 1 drawn 1 and lost 2.

Despite our recent poor run Rangers` away form remains very good, and in the last 6 games away from home we had won 2 drawn 3 before stumbling at Barnsley, scoring 10 goals and conceding 6 along the way. For the season to date we have won 3 drawn 8 and lost 7 games away from Loftus Road , scoring 13 but conceding 19.

After a terrible start to their first season in the Championship Doncaster are at last putting a very good run together and in their last 6 games at home they have won 4 drawn 1 and lost 1 and are currently unbeaten at home in the last 5 games. In this period they have notched up 7 goals and only conceded 4. For the season to date they have won 7 drawn 5 and lost 5 scoring and conceding 11 goals.

Rangers attack are best at producing the goods mid way through the first half and in the last 15 minutes of the game., whereas the defence seems to concede most times midway through the second period.

Doncaster`s attacking force seem to come to life halfway through each half, and their defence appears to be strong in the first half of the game but leak goals just after half time and just before the end of the game.

Our journeys to teams in mid table have not been overly rewarding seeing us return home victorious once, with a point twice, and defeated 3 times.

Doncaster are unbeaten at home against mid table teams winning 4 and drawing 1 so far this season, scoring 5 and conceding only 1 (against Derby County).

The very short history of meetings between the teams gives Doncaster a slight edge in this fixture, and the recent form guide supports this result. However, the overall form this season would favour the game ending in a home win or a draw. Therefore given that we don`t seem to be getting good results against mid table clubs away from home I feel that whilst we are capable of sneaking a draw we will return home pointless.

LENNYS PREDICTION: 2-1 to Doncaster
