Garry Sutton will take charge of his first Queens Park Rangers game as they host Port Vale in the Carling Cup.

The referee from Lincolnshire has proven to be somewhat of a yo-yo official, as after taking three years to qualify to the National List of referees, was demoted back to the Conference in 2007.

He has since worked his way back to the Football League predominantly taking charge of League One and League Two fixtures.

This will mark his first QPR fixture, but he has taken charge of Vale twice last season in victories against Grimsby (2-1) and Dagenham & Redbridge (3-1).

On the evening he will be assisted by Glenn Hambling (Norfolk) and Elliott Kaye (Essex) – the fourth official is Chris Knowles (Northamptonshire)
