Peter Walton from Northamptonshire will referee this weekend’s FA Cup clash with Blackburn Rovers
The Premier League official joined the National List of referees in 1998 before progressing to the Select List in 2003 – residing in the top flight ever since.
Walton took charge of the 2008 Community Shield and has also run the line in the FA Cup final and Euro 1996.
This weekend he will be assisted by Mr Glenn Turner (Derbyshire) and Mr Keith Lawson (Lincolnshire), the fourth official is National List referee Mr Andy Haines (Tyne & Wear).
So far this season Mr Walton has dished out 45 yellow cards and five reds in 14 games – giving him an average of 3.57 cards per game.
Mr Walton first took charge of Rangers back in September 2000, when he presided over a goaless draw with Preston North End – Chris Kiwomya picking up a booking in a disappointing draw.
Following relegation Rangers travelled to Bournemouth and despite full-back Danny Murphy seeing red, Mr Walton oversaw a slender away victory.
Andy Thomson’s double, the second from the penalty spot was enough to see Rangers to victory despite a late consolation from midfielder Carl Fletcher.
The following season Mr Walton oversaw another away victory as Rangers challenged for a playoff place. Despite Lee Cook being sent off, Richard Pacquette netted the winner against Plymouth Argyle.
Despite not overseeing a QPR game for two seasons, Mr Walton took charge of three R’s games in one campaign starting with a disappointing home defeat to Leeds United.
David Healy was sent off for the Whites but Rob Hulse’s goal was enough for the visitors on the day. He followed this up with the reverse fixture at Elland Road, but the R’s didn’t fare any better.
Richard Cresswell and Paul Butler netted for the Whites before yet another defeat followed at home against Stoke City.
Marc Nygaard had opened the scoring for Rangers before Carl Hoefkens equalised from the penalty spot and Hannes Sigurdsson won it for the Potters ten minutes before time.
A win over Colchester United following in the subsequent season with Ray Jones netting for the R’s in a useful win at Loftus Road before a crushing defeat followed at Southend United.
The eventually relegated Shrimpers hammered Rangers live on Sky with Lee Bradbury, Mark Gower, Efe Sodje and a double from Kevin Maher saw Southend put QPR deep in the mire.
Despite managing to stay up John Gregory was sacked soon after in the following season and Rangers were without a win as Walton took charge of their clash with Norwich City live on Sky.
After several appeals Rangers finally had a deserved penalty and Martin Rowlands netted the only goal of the game from the spot, kick-starting a useful run of form for the R’s.
From there on Luigi de Canio’s QPR gave Crystal Palace a grilling at Selhurst Park – Scott Sinclair opening the scoring in a dominant performance for Rangers.
They were made to pay for missed chances however with Clinton Morrison netting a late leveller for Neil Warnock’s side and with a little more luck he could have won the clash in injury time.
The most recent clash Mr Walton took charge of was an away defeat to Cardiff City, a disappointing performance compounded a convincing defeat.
A Joe Ledley brace and a Paul Parry strike was enough to see the dominant Bluebirds beat Rangers despite Patrick Agyemang continuing his fine goalscoring form.
