Mark Hughes is an admired ex-pro, whose playing career spanned over 20 years with over 600 league appearances and 163 league goals to his name, turning out for some of Europe`s greatest teams including Manchester United, Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Chelsea. The former Welsh international moved into management following his retirement and having managed Blackburn, Manchester City and Fulham, the 48-year-old now sits at the helm of Queens Park Rangers. Vital QPR proudly has access to his thoughts and will aim to give you an interesting and reflective insight into the goings on at QPR.

‘I HAVE ALWAYS enjoyed the international break. Not least because I can evade any grating questions from the press for a couple of weeks, but because I can sit back and watch England impressively stutter past powerless and inadequate opposition, safe in the knowledge my job is going well. On Friday, however, I found myself watching an imposing and exciting England demolish Moldova 5-0 whilst noting we were 19th, having played poorly and only taken one point from our first three games.

For this reason, the lads have been training hard. Wright-Phillips has been practising his impressive near-post corners, Green his commanding presence in the penalty box and Fabio has been teaching the defence some of the positional tricks of the trade they learn up at Man Utd.

On Tuesday I announced my 25-man squad. I realised I`d somehow ended up with four goalkeepers at the club and had to get Cerny and Murphy to have an arm wrestle for the penultimate place. I still had one spot spare, and as I didn`t have any of the U12`s at hand it seemed unfair to put Hogan up for the popular arm wrestle event. I stuck him in anyway.

This unfortunately left the unwanted still floating around. Trying to ship out Campbell, Hulse and Young is proving harder than it was trying to remove Barton from his twitter account. I see he`s already kept a low profile at Marseille and thankfully avoided any confrontations with any ex-teammates. Really nice guy.

In other news, Sky Sports News kept up their impressive record of producing stories out of thin air by declaring Samba Diakite was suffering from depression. Little did they know I`d sent him back to France to work with a mixed martial arts teacher I`d been recommended – thought it would be good for the guy to get some fire and aggressiveness into his play.

I sign off by thanking Chelsea for faxing over the details of when and how Terry would feign injury to avoid the game on Saturday. We can now relax knowing the game will be played in a friendly and gracious manner with little controversy. Captain. Leader. Legend? Thug. Bully. Bottlejob.`
