Former Queens Park Rangers loanee Andy Taylor is expecting a tough challenge from Wayne Routledge as the Blades come to Loftus Road.
The first leg saw the two sides once again cancel each other out as they did in the league a fortnight previously.
Jay Simpson’s opener soon saw Rangers’ pressure subside as the Blades equalised on the stroke of half time, courtesy of Richard Cresswell.
‘Wayne is a very tricky, but direct winger.’ Taylor told sufc.co.uk
‘He is quick and agile with good feet so as a full-back you can’t afford to dive in because he will just skip past you.’
He added: ‘I am expecting a tough challenge, but I prefer to know exactly who my direct opponent is because it then something of a one-one-one battle.’
The Blades full-back had a brief stint at Rangers under Ian Holloway prior to his departure. It was Gary Waddock’s decision to send he, Keith Lowe, Leon Clarke and several others back to their parent clubs.
Despite his spell at Loftus Road cut short, he sees it as a special and important time in his career to date and crucial to his development as a player.
He said: ‘I was in the reserves at Blackburn and it was my first taste of first-team football, which at the times was vitally important.
‘Ian Holloway was the manager and, although I only played two or three times during the month I was there, it remains a special time in my career.
‘I would have liked to have stayed there longer, but the financial situation at the time meant all loan players had to be sent back.’
Taylor is set to start at full-back this evening as the Blades travel to W12, and concedes that while they will have to undoubtedly defend more, they will show their prowess on the counter-attack.
