Blackpool boss Simon Grayson has backed Daniel Nardiello to overcome the injury woes.

The 25 year old has failed to make any headway at Bloomfield Road following a catalogue of injuries – which some critics believe should have been noticed in the prior medical.

Grayson though defender the former Manchester United forward:

“It’s just one of those things – it happens,’ The Tangerines boss told The Blackpool Gazette

‘Some people have said that these problems should have been picked up in a medical but sometimes you can’t do that.”

‘We’ve signed players who we thought might struggle with a couple of injuries and they didn’t have an injury for two or three years. And vice versa, it happens.

‘Players pass medicals and sometimes you just can’t legislate for things.’

Nardiello left the R`s on a free transfer in July 2008, and moved to Blackpool along with defender Zesh Rehman, who made a loan switch to the Tangerines.

The deal paved the way for Kaspars Gorkss to move to W12, he however finds himself on the bench due to the sublime displays of Damion Stewart.

Nardiello started his career as a youngster at Wolverhampton Wanderers before moving to more illustrious pastures and Manchester United. Only three League Cup appearances ensued for the Red Devils before Nardiello was loaned out for a brief spell to Swansea City.

Two further loan spells ensued at Barnsley accumulating a total of 92 appearances over three years at Oakwell. Nardiello signed for Barnsley permanently in 2005 and got his own back on Swansea scoring the goal in the play-off final that brought the game level, Barnsley won the game on penalties.

After a season in the Championship, Nardiello turned down a new contract at Oakwell in favour of Queens Park Rangers. He went back to Barnsley on loan after a succession of injuries stalled his progress at QPR.

He made the move away from W12 in July 2008 after failing to impress a succession of R`s bosses.
