With thoughts turning to the coming campaign of 2019/20, Queens Park Rangers confirmed this week that highly rated young winger Olamide Shodipo has agreed to a new one year extension of his deal, keeping him at Loftus Road until the summer of 2020.
The 21-year-old Academy graduate now has seven starting appearances to his name with QPR, with a further ten showings from the substitutes bench having made his debut at the age of 19 on the opening day of the 2016/17 campaign. His most recent appearance came in last weekend’s narrow defeat to Nottingham Forest.
His development so far has also seen him undertake two half season loan spells out with Port Vale, and last season Colchester United where he added a combined six starts and six substitute showings to his tally.
Speaking to the Official Site Director of Football Les Ferdinand said of his new deal.
“Everyone knows the talent that Mide possesses. He’s had a tough time with injuries in the last couple of years but hopefully that is behind him now and we are looking forward to seeing him out on the pitch next season. We are all excited to see how he performs over the coming months.”

Given the atmosphere in the fanbase though, not all the comments were positive which was unfortunate.
What’s telling for me is that it’s the director of football making this choice. Les gives Shodipo the contract then will have to waits to see if the manager wants to play him or not. Broken system!
