Who in their wildest dreams would have predicted this time last year QPR would be the richest football club in the world?

Anyone can dream about the rags to riches fairytale but when the chance actually comes along and bites you on the nose, to live that dream, what do you say, what do you do?

The reality of competing with the best teams in the world is still a far-flung dream to many Rangers supporters, nevertheless, with the clubs new owners eager to spread the Queens Park Rangers gospel in all four corners of the globe one can expect the clubs worldwide fan base to grow 10-fold, advertising and branding of the club will no doubt hit new heights and wait for it – Premier League football within three years.

Only a few days ago the club announced that Lakshmi Mittal, the fifth most minted man on the planet had bought a 20 per cent stakeholding in the club. The Indian steel magnate topped last year’s Sunday Times Rich List with a near £20billion fortune, almost double that of Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich.

And with the Rangers board already boasting F1 tycoons Bernie Ecclestone and Flavio Briatore, it means Queens Park Rangers have a fortune of more than £22billion, yes, £22bn, even bigger than Real Madrid.

The three wealthy directors have pledged to splash the cash to turn Rangers into the game’s next big force with boss Luigi de Canio given an open chequebook to strengthen his squad during January’s transfer window.

So what does this mean?

Sadly, my crystal ball is on the blink however, it doesn’t take a physic to realise the return of the Loftus Road glory days are perched firmly on the horizon. The only question remaining is not if, but when.
