Good news is always welcome – better late than never, I say – so apologies for the delay in letting you all know what you already all know!

But isn’t it great to see our hard work on the pitch rewarded off?

Monday started the ball rolling. Jamie Mackie, who has already scored 8 goals in 10 games for us, and it isn’t even mid-October yet, was named the PFA npower Championship Fans’ Player of the Month for August/September. This award is voted for by fans, which Mackie felt made it the more special.

At the time of the announcement, Mackie commented: ‘I’m really pleased with how things have gone over the last few weeks, both for me personally and for the team.

‘I’ve got great confidence in my own ability, but the most important thing is the Club and as long as we keep producing the goods, I’ll be absolutely delighted.’

Tuesday we saw the much longed-for announcement that Alejandro Faurlin had signed a two-year extension to his contract, keeping him at Loftus Road until 2014. Negotiations had been ongoing since the summer, and I, for one, was relieved, as well as happy, that the new contract was now acceptable to both parties.

Warnock was also clearly relieved and delighted, claiming ‘This is the best piece of business I’ve done since I joined the Club.’

Warnock added: ‘I genuinely believe he (Faurlin) can get better and better and that’s saying something, because he’s already a truly outstanding player.

‘He’s an integral part of where I see the Club going in the future. This contract and the stability it provides will take his game to the next level now,’ Warnock added.

Wednesday dawned with the news that mercurial Adel Taarabt had picked up another award to add to the Player of the Month award he garnered in August. This time, Taarabt has won the Match of the Day magazine’s Championship Player of the Month for September.

Taarabt was chosen by the Football League Show presenter, Manish Bhasin, because Bhasin felt that, at last, Taarabt was at last fulfilling that so-long unfulfilled potential.

‘He’s been given license to roam from wide and if he doesn’t score, he’ll provide assists. But Clubs who pay too much attention trying to mark him out of the game will be undone by his team-mates, including Championship top scorer Jamie Mackie,’ Bhasin observed.

And then to today. I am sure that you are all aware that our very own Neil Warnock has, once again, picked up the npower Football League Manager of the Month award for September (to add to his August award). Whilst Mackie, away now with the Scotland squad, a further reward for the young man with a Scottish grandfather, picked up the Player of the Month award.

Alan Curbishley, Chairman of the npower Championship Manager of the Month panel, remarked ‘Neil Warnock’s side have been fantastic again and have enjoyed another unbeaten month following last month’s award. Queens Park Rangers are setting the pace in the npower Championship and will take some catching at this rate.’

Oh – and if you want to read something original – catch my article on Beat Around the Bush on the Kilburn Times website. I’m sure you’ll agree, like me, that it’s worth having all those bruises as we pinch ourselves not just at our success on the pitch, but off it as well!

Congratulations to all involved at QPR so far but, as the Gaffer says, there’s a long, long way to go to the finishing line. So let’s not get too carried away!!
