Substitution Errors Didn’t Help QPR Against WBA

|

Whoscored crunched their normal algorithms for Queens Park Rangers’ horrendous defeat to West Bromwich Albion at the weekend.

Heading to The Hawthorns and seeing the scores tied a 1-1 at the halftime break, QPR completely capitulated in the second 45 minutes to come out with a 7-1 scoreline to mark our worst start to a season and if anyone didn’t realise we needed to strengthen our young first team squad, they certainly do now.

Making things potentially worse for those who aren’t already enamoured with manager Steve McClaren was the fact that as he pivoted with substitutions, he actually ended up taking off three of the best four rated players on the day.

Joel Lynch came top of the pile with a rating of 7.33 as he put in two tackles and 12 clearances on a defensive front, whilst also helping himself to our goal on the day and achieving an 81% pass accuracy rating.

Matt Smith polled 7.01 having grabbed the assist with Mass Luongo (6.22) and Ebere Eze (6.09) taking the next two spots. Everyone else was below 6 for the day which is understandable given the scoreline.

Only Luongo completed the game though and with none of the substitutes outperforming those who they replaced, that just adds a further disappointment to the proceedings.
