With Queens Park Rangers now turning their attentions to summer strengthening following the appointment of new manager Mark Warburton, plenty of fans have called for striker Charlie Austin to return this summer with current club Southampton making no secret that he’s available.
The 29-year-old hasn’t had a great season at St Mary’s Stadium with injury and he’s only made 27 appearances all campaign, returning just three goals and two assists. Having joined them from us for a reported £4million in the January 2016 window, his overall record is slightly better with 20 goals returned in 40 starting appearances and 41 substitute showings.
His form at Loftus Road is well known by all fans though and fit, everyone knows he’s an asset and although Nahki Wells may well remain an option this summer, having changed manager, Tomer Hemed could well get a second shot at Brighton and Hove Albion.
With such a history with us though, when the club posted up a video clip at the weekend, the response was going to be obvious.
